Charlie Uffelman Crafts Indie Rock That Breathes and Builds on Cracking Single All The Same

Last Friday, New York City-based singer/songwriter Charlie Uffelman released his sophomore album in the form of All The Light We Dim. Penned in the second half of 2024, the ten-track offering was recorded with Charlie's former bandmate Gabe Bango in Vermont, and sees the artist really examining the roots of his musicality.

All The Same is the second song on All The Light We Dim, and it's a tune I'd like to hone in on today. A gentle and breezy piece of indie rock, it steadily builds itself up until eventually reaching a hypnotic crescendo of crashing drums and Charlie's impassioned vocals.

Expertly pieced together and arranged, All The Same sounds like the work of a seasoned professional, and that's very much by design. While Charlie's solo career may still be in its early stages, he was actually a founding member of the indie rock outfit Armanodillo, so it's fair to say he's already done a few laps around the musical block.

Speaking about his new record, Charlie reflects on the intention behind its release. "In a world that forces us to ignore so much of ourselves, All The Light We Dim is a reminder to listen to that voice inside of you, to use your light to chart a creative path, and to give this side of yourself the attention it deserves."
