Dan Webb Packs Jazz, Rock, and Taoist Philosophy Into Latest Instrumental Things Rise and Fall
A richly textured instrumental where jazz, rock, and Taoist philosophy collide, Things Rise and Fall is the intensely immersive new single courtesy of Australian composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Webb. Released just the other day, the track features LA jazz bass prodigy Logan Kane, alongside a host of other ridiculously gifted musicians.
An uptempo, cinematic wall of sound, Things Rise and Fall wastes no time plunging the listener into a sea of intricate rhythms, dynamic percussion, and layers upon layers of instrumentation. You get the sense that Dan and co. have no intention of wasting a single second - as they pack every moment with something more to keep your ears busy.
Serving as the second single that will eventually form part of Dan's fifth album, Lion Dance, Things Rise and Fall is unquestionably one of the most intriguing new offerings I've come across in some time. The musicianship is next level - and it's hard not to be blown away by the sheer talent involved - Michael Bland, Clive Deamer, and Dennis Hamm, to mention just a few.
With Lion Dance scheduled for release in early November, and having now explored some of Dan Webb's previous work, let's just say I'm sold! And hey, when you're being labelled as "one of the most innovative figures in contemporary music," you're clearly doing something right!
