Joe Hodgson Unveils a Soul-Stirring Dance of Strings and Guitar on You I Think Of
It was only last month that I was waxing lyrical about Northern Irish guitarist Joe Hodgson. He'd just delivered two cracking tunes in the form of Since You Had A Hold On Me and Stick Or Twist, and something in his sound instantly struck a chord with me. It was heartfelt and genuine stuff, and I knew straight away Iād be keeping a very close ear on what he did next. With that said, allow me to introduce you to You I Think Of.
Teaming up with the world-renowned Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Joe sets about concocting a dreamy, poignant, and deeply absorbing piece of instrumental music. It's short and sweet, standing a little over three minutes, but what the artist has managed to pack into that space is astounding.
Stylistically, Hodgson leans into bluesy, jazzy, and rock-tinged territory. He's clearly comfortable in any sonic skin - the kind of musician that makes genres feel almost irrelevant.
As the guitar's purity meets the rich orchestral strings, what emerges is a cinematic and soul-stirring track that feels timeless.
Another song that will form part of Joe's forthcoming album, Fields Of Redemption, You I Think Of is a tender reminder that sometimes the most powerful stories don't need words.
