King In Yellow Perfect the Art of Controlled Chaos on New Single Dream weapon

My first encounter with the raw and gritty sounds of King In Yellow came at the end of last year, when the New York-based outfit unleashed their debut EP Dark Passengers. A fuzzy and intense four-track offering, the record plunged listeners into rich and moody soundscapes of new wave, dark wave, and post-punk. It's an EP I often find myself returning to, but today, it's Dream weapon that I'd like to introduce you to, the band's brand new single.

Delving into themes of isolation and loneliness, Dream weapon delivers that same sonic potency and unembellished truth I've come to know and love from King In Yellow's work. It's fierce and hypnotic, cutting through the noise and eliminating anyone who dares stand in its way.

Approaching the recording of the tune rather uniquely, the outfit developed a hybrid approach, layering live tracking with modern studio techniques. It's a bold undertaking, but one that the act has pulled off with aplomb.

They've preserved that raw and natural energy of the song, and in the process, created a gripping piece of music that is, frankly, one of the best new tunes I've heard in a while.
