MrMessy Turns Digital Ruin into Electronic Riches on I Want to Make Her Happy

When your hard drive crashes, and you lose all the music you've worked so hard on, it must be mightily tempting to just call it a day. And, in truth, that's basically what Lukas Speissegger did. Four badly damaged tracks were somewhat salvaged, but the Zurich-based producer, better known as MrMessy, mainly focused his attention on working with other acts.

Years later, an assistant of the producer stumbled upon the remains of those four tunes, and MrMessy's interest was piqued. They revived the songs as best they could, and the result is I Want to Make Her Happy, an immersive and eclectic three-track offering of EDM brilliance.

The EP's title track kicks things off and wastes little time submerging the listener in a sea of ambient textures and unique synth work. It's a hugely intriguing opener and sets the tone wonderfully for the more hard-hitting and intense sounds of I Love Your Body.

Collecting Smiles completes the EP - a nine-and-a-half-minute epic that feels like you've entered another dimension. Dreamy, floaty, otherworldly, it's a sonic trip that I highly recommend you take. All in all, this EP is a testament to creative resilience, and a collection that MrMessy can be extremely proud of.
