On Mystic Highway, DownTown Mystic Keeps the Classic Rock Flame Alive

New Jersey-based rocker Robert Allen is the visionary behind DownTown Mystic, and for his brand new EP, Mystic Highway, he's recruited a few of the world's top musicians to join him. From Steve Holley (Paul McCartney) and Paul Page to Jeff Levine (Joe Cocker) and Bruce Engler, Robert has truly assembled a dream team. The result? A smashing six-track offering of classic American rock 'n' roll. Let's dive in!

A remastered version of History gets the ball rolling, and straight away, the influence of Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band can be heard. There's a good reason for that - which I'll soon disclose! With a timeless and energetic sound, it sets the scene perfectly for what's to come.

Modern Ways then enters the fray with a Johnny B. Goode-esque guitar riff and an overall toe-tapping swagger that's impossible to resist. A burst of pure spirit that feels straight out of rock’s golden age, it leads us sweetly into the more laidback and gentle sounds of Read The Signs.

Lost and Found, Some Day, and Somebody's Always Doin' Something To Somebody complete Mystic Highway, and they're three tunes I implore you to immerse yourself in. Each one is genius.

Regarding the Springsteen connection, Robert will actually be teaming up with Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent (the literal rhythm section for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band) in January. That's just epic!
