Oryah's New Single MMORPG Is Acoustic Rap with Weight, Purpose, and Precision
Cards on the table…Acoustic rap is not a genre I'm overly familiar with. Sure, I've come across some amazing acoustic covers of classic hip-hop tunes, but as its own unique genre, it always felt like a bit of a niche experiment. Now? I'm not so sure.
MMORPG is the brand new offering from Oryah, an East Coast rapper who's been on the scene for around eight years. Teaming up with award-winning producer ZBeatz, the pair set about creating a chilled and hypnotic soundscape that leans into minimalism without losing depth - just guitar, rhythm, and raw reflection.
For three minutes, the listener is entranced in Oryah's poetic verses as they glide over the warm and intimate acoustic guitar. Come to think of it, it's actually remarkable that such a sparse track can feel so full and rich!
Reflecting on the meaning behind MMORPG, the artist says it's about "the control system we all live under that exists in many different forms". Inspired by the sense that we're all characters in a simulation, Oryah hopes the song can bring listeners a sense of peace in a chaotic and often dysfunctional world.
