Rediscover Social Gravy's Geniusly Inventive 2020 EP A Different Kind
You're right. Here at Savoy Truffle Tunes, we generally focus on newly released material. That said, when an EP like A Different Kind comes across your proverbial desk, you can’t help but make an exception.
Courtesy of Los Angeles-based indie rock duo Social Gravy, the exceptional four-track offering was released nearly five years ago. But, with a new EP up their sleeves, the pair are keen to highlight the record as a prelude to the fresh material they’re preparing to drop. Let's dive in, shall we?
Describing their sound as "romantic rock 'n'roll," Happening Now gets the EP underway in a soulful and captivating fashion. Airy, yet rich and expressive, it's the perfect start to proceedings.
Love You Better then steps up to the plate, and it's here when I get a sense of some of Brad Kohn and Vee Bordukov's influences. There's definitely a whiff of The Black Keys in the song's chewy centre, but I'm also picking up hints of The Beatles and, dare I say, some Clapton-esque guitar work.
Anywayz and A Different Kind complete the EP, and they're two tunes that further reveal just how talented these two musicians are. From here, though, you're on your own. Sit back and enjoy!
