Sugary-Sweet Synths Meet Sharp Satire on Gravité Fresq’s New Single Placebo Thrill
Dublin-based outfit Gravité Fresq have burst onto the scene this year with their genius blend of hard-hitting electro-synth-pop. Schrödinger's Office set the scene for the band to showcase their intense, powerful sound, and its follow-up, Reality Is Premium, only doubled down on that intoxicatingly "confrontational" energy.
Festive Season My Arse was Gravité Fresq's third release, but today I'd like to introduce you to their most recent. Please welcome the glossy, chewy, neon-soaked gem that is Placebo Thrill.
Clocking in at just over two minutes, it's a tune that wastes no time plunging the listener into a sea of upbeat and sugary-sweet synths. With a driving 4/4 rhythm and an infectious sense of release, it's a track that's practically begging to be set free at large festivals and arenas. And that, my friends, is a seriously impressive feat for an act still this early into their musical journey.
Lyrically, Placebo Thrill is a cynical, lighthearted roast of modern myths and alternative medicine. "The core message is about the psychological and communal comfort we find in shared illusions," says the outfit. "The placebo thrill, where the truth matters less than the social connection and the fact that we all believe in how good it feels."
A band worth keeping a very close eye (and ear) on, Gravité Fresq are unquestionably here to shake things up. And I, for one, am very much on board!
