With Continuous, Wait, Jesse Blake Rundle Writes His Own Masterful Liberation Song
Though only released a week ago, Jesse Blake Rundle's cinematic new single, Continuous, Wait, is fast-becoming one of my favourite tunes of the year. Described as an "alt-rock meditation on being stuck in time," the immersive and textured offering is carried by layered guitars and the artist's tender vocal delivery. Think Radiohead meets Broken Social Scene.
A track that will form part of Rundle's upcoming album, Wait, Sky, Continuous, Wait is a sonic journey into the Idaho-based singer/songwriter's upbringing. From leaving the church to embracing queerness and building a new life for himself, it feels more like a poetic diary entry than just another song.
Another genius aspect to Continuous, Wait is that, with each listen, tiny revelations seem to rise to the surface. Subtle flourishes and hidden layers you'd swear you didn't hear at first reveal themselves, and the tune almost becomes a living and breathing organism that you somehow feel attached to.
With multiple albums under his belt, Jesse Blake Rundle is unquestionably the real deal. He's a true artist in every sense of the word, and I can't wait to dive into his discography!
