Haïfa Melliti: “Everything becomes music…when you are listening deeply”
Haïfa Melliti is a French-Tunisian pianist and multidisciplinary artist.
Mélodie de la Déesse is her debut album, and it's an intimate collection of solo piano pieces inspired by meditation, inner silence and the sacred feminine.
A five-track offering, it’s a body of delicate, calming, and contemplative work I’ve come to truly cherish.
Getting the feeling that Haïfa had an interesting story to tell, I reached out…
And, thankfully, she was keen to spend some time and chat!
Reflecting on how Mélodie de la Déesse was received more than simply composed, why her musical influences are not only artists, but emotions, cultures, and sacred memories, and why she believes that music has the power to bring us back to ourselves, please welcome our new friend Haïfa Melliti.
Hi Haïfa! It's great to have you here, and I can't wait to introduce you to our ever-expanding audience!
Let's kick things off with an easy one...Who is Haïfa Melliti, what first drew you to music, and how did you discover your passion for it?
Hi, and thank you so much for this beautiful invitation…it truly means a lot to me.
My name is Haïfa Melliti. I am an artist, an intuitive pianist, and a creator of sacred spaces.
I don’t see myself only as a musician…
I see myself as a channel of emotions, of light, of something invisible that wants to be felt.
Music came to me very naturally.
Since I was young, I have always been deeply sensitive to vibrations, to silence, to what exists beyond words. But it was later, in my inner journey, that I truly discovered my connection to music.
I didn’t learn music in a classical way…I felt it.
The piano became a sacred space for me, a place where I could breathe, release, and reconnect with my soul. Each note I play is not constructed…it is received.
My passion was born from this deep need to express what cannot be said. Through my melodies, I try to touch something pure in people…something ancient, something sacred.
For me, music is not just sound…
It is a prayer. A vibration. An offering to the soul.
And this is how Mélodie de la Déesse was born as a living expression of the sacred feminine, flowing through my hands, in complete presence and intuition.
✨ With all my artistic and spiritual radiance,
I've fallen deeply in love with your debut album Mélodie de la Déesse. It's just such an emotional and intimate collection of compositions.
You've mentioned that the piano pieces were born from intuitive improvisation. Please tell us more 😊
Thank you from the bottom of my heart… your words truly touch me.
Mélodie de la Déesse was not composed in the traditional sense…It was received.
Each piece was born in a moment of deep presence, often in silence, when I allowed myself to let go completely. I sit at the piano without thinking, without structure, without intention to “create”…and something begins to flow through me. It’s a very intuitive and almost meditative process.
I close my eyes, I breathe, and I listen… not with my ears, but with my inner space.
The melodies emerge like whispers of the soul.
Sometimes soft, sometimes intense…but always sincere.
I don’t control the music, I trust it.
I let my hands follow the emotion of the moment, as if they already know the path.
These improvisations are deeply connected to my inner world, to my spiritual journey, and to the feminine energy that lives within me. It’s like each note carries a memory, a healing, or a message.
That’s why the album feels so intimate…
Because it is not something I created from the mind…
It is something that came from a place of truth.
For me, intuitive improvisation is a sacred act.
It is where music becomes a prayer…and where the soul is finally free to speak.
✨ With all my love and light,
Now, I understand this is probably like asking someone to pick their favourite child, but is there a composition on the record that ended up meaning more to you than you expected?
That’s a beautiful question…and yes, it truly feels like choosing between parts of my own soul.
Each composition carries a different emotion, a different moment of my inner journey…so in a way, they are all deeply precious to me. But if I had to share one that touched me in a very unexpected way, I would say L’Appel de la Déesse.
This piece came very spontaneously…almost like a whisper that became a wave.
When I was playing it, I didn’t fully realize what was happening…but afterwards, I felt something had shifted inside me.
There was a sense of opening…of surrender…as if I was answering something greater than myself. What surprised me the most was how people reacted to it.
Many told me they felt something very deep, sometimes even emotional or healing, and that touched me profoundly.
I think this piece carries a very pure intention…
A call to reconnect, to listen, to remember who we truly are.
and maybe that’s why it means so much to me today…
because it goes beyond me.
✨ With all my sensitivity and light,
Take us through some of your biggest musical influences.
And, just for fun, if you could pluck one song from history and add your name to it, which would it be?
My musical influences are not only artists…they are also emotions, cultures, and sacred memories.
I am deeply inspired by Eastern sounds, by the soul of the oud, by Sufi poetry, and by the silent depth of spiritual music. There is something in these traditions that speaks directly to the heart…something timeless.
I am also touched by minimalist piano and composers who leave space between the notes… where silence becomes part of the music. Artists like Ludovico Einaudi or Yiruma have this ability to create emotion with simplicity and purity.
But beyond names, my greatest influence is life itself…
my inner journey, my connection to the feminine, the women I meet, the energy I feel in sacred spaces, and even the silence of my own studio.
Everything becomes music… when you are listening deeply.
And if I could choose one song from history and place my name within it…
It would be Spiegel im Spiegel by Arvo Pärt.
Because in this piece, time disappears.
It feels like a prayer suspended in the air…simple, pure, eternal.
It resonates deeply with my own way of creating — where music is not about performance, but about presence…about touching something sacred within.
✨ With all my artistic and spiritual resonance,
Success is, obviously, such a broad term with different meanings for everyone.
What would “being successful in the music industry" look like to you?
For me, success in the music industry is not something I measure in numbers…but in impact.
Of course, recognition, visibility, and opportunities are beautiful…but they are not the essence of why I create.
To me, being successful means staying true to my soul. It means creating music that remains pure, sincere, and aligned with my inner truth — without losing myself in expectations or trends.
Success is when someone listens to my music…
and feels something shift inside.
When a melody brings peace, emotion, or even healing.
It is when my music becomes a space…
a refuge…
a moment where the soul can breathe.
It is also about freedom, the freedom to create, to express, to share my universe with the world, and to touch hearts across cultures. And of course, success is being able to live from my art, to grow, to reach more people…while remaining deeply connected to the sacred essence of my work.
So for me, success is not only about being seen…it is about being felt.
✨ With all my truth and light,
When a new song starts to form, what’s your usual approach?
Can you talk us through how you develop that initial spark into a fully realised piece of music?
For me, a new piece doesn’t really “start”…it reveals itself.
There is always a moment, very subtle, where I feel something moving inside me.
An emotion, a silence, a vibration…like a gentle call.
When that happens, I go to the piano.
Not to compose…but to listen.
I don’t begin with an idea or a structure. I begin with presence.
I sit, I breathe, I close my eyes…and I allow my hands to find their way.
The first notes are often very simple, almost fragile…but they carry the essence of everything that will follow.
From there, I don’t “develop” the piece in a technical way…I follow it.
I play, I repeat, I let the melody evolve naturally.
Sometimes I record these moments, because they are very pure and cannot be recreated the same way twice.
The structure comes later, very gently. I listen back, I feel what wants to stay, what wants to expand…and I refine without breaking the original emotion.
For me, the most important thing is to protect the truth of that first spark.
Because that’s where the soul of the piece lives.
So the process is not about building…it’s about revealing, trusting, and allowing.
✨ With all my sensitivity and presence,
What, to you, is music’s role in society?
To me, music is one of the most essential languages of humanity.
It goes beyond words, beyond cultures, beyond differences…
It speaks directly to the heart.
In a world that is often fast, noisy, and disconnected, music has the power to bring us back to ourselves.
It creates space…space to feel, to breathe, to remember.
I believe music is here to heal, to connect, and to awaken.
It can soothe pain, open emotions, and create invisible bridges between people who have never met.
In society, music is not just entertainment…it is a form of presence.
It reminds us of our sensitivity, our humanity, our depth.
It allows us to feel what we sometimes don’t have the words to express.
And in my own path, I see music as a sacred offering, a way to bring light, softness, and consciousness into the world.
Because when a melody touches the soul…something transforms.
✨ With all my love and intention,
Haïfa, thank you so much again for taking the time to chat!
I can't wait to hear what you have next in store. So, on that note, what’s next for you musically, and do you have any parting words of wisdom you'd like to share with our readers?
Thank you so much for this beautiful exchange… it has truly been a pleasure to share my world with you.
Musically, I feel that I am only at the beginning of this journey. There is so much that wants to be expressed.
I am currently working on new pieces, continuing to explore deeper layers of intuitive music…but also opening my universe to new sounds, especially inspired by the vibrations of the oud and the richness of Eastern melodies.
I would love to create more immersive experiences…where music, painting, and presence come together in the same space.
Moments where people don’t just listen…but feel, travel, and reconnect with something sacred within themselves.
I also wish to share my music more widely, to touch hearts across the world, and to continue building a bridge between art, healing, and the feminine essence.
And if I could leave a few words for your readers…Stay connected to what you feel.
Not what the world expects from you…but what your soul is quietly asking for.
There is a truth inside each of us that cannot be copied, compared, or replaced.
And when you dare to follow it…you create something real, something alive.
Whether it is through music, art, or simply the way you live your life…
Let it be sincere.
Because authenticity is the most powerful vibration we can offer to the world.
