Ache Marks a Powerful and Long-Awaited Return From Highroad No. 28
Australian rockers Highroad No. 28 released their debut album back in 2006. After receiving critical acclaim, they followed up with a sophomore record in 2008. But then…silence.
A prolonged period of hibernation saw the band occasionally releasing re-worked songs and demos, but nothing beyond a few scattered breadcrumbs. That is…until now!
Introducing Ache, the outfit's brand new single. A tune that will form part of their upcoming third album, Ache is a dynamic and moody piece of rock that captures the sorrow of memory and longing. "It's about emotional honesty," says the act. "The pain that stays from lost love and passion, but also the strange beauty in still feeling something real."
Refining their previously heavy, alternative rock sound, Highroad No. 28 set about concocting something a little darker and more "mature." Sure, it still has that signature melodic intensity, but the overall weight of the track just feels more lived-in and resolute.
Recorded at Sing Sing Recordings and mixed by the talented young producer, James Taplin, Ache is a highly welcome return from a band whose enduring passion for music clearly never left.
With The Will to Endure scheduled for release next month, consider Ache your first glimpse into an act rediscovering their fire.
