Alter Ego Finds Roger K Boldly Exploring the Line Between UK Garage and R&B

Roger K is an independent Australian artist and producer, and to say he's been productive this year would be a massive understatement. Delivering twelve singles in the space of ten months, Roger has been on an absolute tear, weaving his storytelling through a diverse range of sounds and landscapes.

Alter Ego is the musician's latest single, and another showcase of just how effortlessly Roger can fuse different styles into a cohesive sound that feels very much his own. Drawing on UK garage, R&B sensibilities, and a tight reverse warp kick reminiscent of Don Toliver’s E85, it's a tune that confidently marches to the beat of its own drum.

Reflecting on what shaped the track, Roger mentions that the labour of love was particularly inspired by "Artful Dodger and their work with Craig David, which first bridged the gap between R&B and house music for me."

An exploration into the masks we wear to protect ourselves, Alter Ego captures the raw vulnerability of truly letting someone in. Someone who makes us feel genuinely seen.

Through a soundscape of driving beats and lush vocals, Roger K has built an immersive sonic world that lands with weight and purpose! Superb stuff!
