Baldy Crawlers Offer a Tender Act of Defiance on New Single Bring Me a Flower
Baldy Crawlers is the musical project of California-based singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Martin Maudal, a visionary artist who has just released one of my favourite tunes of the year. Titled Bring Me a Flower, Martin's latest offering sees him teaming up with a ridiculously gifted bunch of musicians to concoct a spellbinding piece of music. Joined by Norrell Thompson, Elizabeth Hangan, Ross Schodek, and Carl Byron, what emerges is a delicate and soulful track humming with collective spirit.
Intertwining folklore, empathy, and modern injustice, Bring Me a Flower is resistance at its most gentle. It doesn’t rage against the world - it quietly unmasks it. Less about rebellion and more about resilience, the rich and cinematic song is, sadly, a very timely one.
"Did music teach humanity how to empathize? I think it's very possible," ponders Martin. "This song is about that - about how hope survives, even in the face of fear."
A genius blend of Americana and atmospheric folk, Bring Me a Flower turns your typical protest song on its head. It offers a different and holistic perspective, a slow-burning reminder that compassion and resolve are also forms of defiance. Pure brilliance from beginning to end!
