Beneath the Shiny Pop Exterior, Jeremie Soyan Gets Personal on New EP Maxwell

Released exactly one week ago, Maxwell is the unflinchingly honest new EP from Jeremie Croisic, a French artist better known in the music world as Jeremie Soyan. A six-track offering including an enticing thirty-second intro, Jeremie's latest release finds its sonic inspiration in the slick, hyper-charged pop universe of icons like Charli xcx and Addison Rae. Working alongside producer LenniBeats, Jeremie has concocted a sharp, addictive little record that doesn't waste a single second.

"The story behind Maxwell is the most basic and typical thing we, as humans, can experience," explains the EP's creator. "Falling in love with the wrong person at the wrong time."

Through dreamy, intoxicating textures (Fall 4 That) to dark, uneasy soundscapes (I Luv It), there's a constant sense of catharsis running through each tune's veins. And that's really the core heart of the project. Jeremie was in a dark place, but putting those emotions into words and building them into songs finally lifted the weight.

Taking me out of my sonic comfort zone in the best possible way, Maxwell is an EP that uses a shiny pop surface to mask a raw, deeply personal journey. It's genius stuff, and I cannot wait to hear from Jeremie Soyan again!
