Break Out Showcases The Side Effect’s Timeless Sound and Unstoppable Spirit

Poisoned by the Sunshine is the debut EP courtesy of a New York-based rock act called The Side Effect - but please don't mistake the word debut for inexperience. Comprised of Jay Wilkins, Chris Flood, and Phil Yanos, it's an outfit that features three veteran musicians brought together by life’s twists and turns.

Now, while I implore you to listen to the band's debut EP in full, today I'd like to hone in on a track called Break Out, the record's second offering. Why that specific song, you ask? Well, soon you shall see.

An upbeat and hugely infectious tune, Break Out is full of charm and spirit. It's got a timeless aura to it too - the kind of sound that only emanates from musicians who’ve lived and breathed their craft for decades.

Clocking in at under two and a half minutes, the track is a burst of energy and a quick hit of rock ‘n’ roll adrenaline. Making every second count, The Side Effect have managed to squeeze so much heart and colour into a song that’s, frankly, over before you know it.

With hopefully more new material on the way, The Side Effect are undoubtedly an act worth keeping a close eye (and ear) on!
