"Musically, this is something of a departure for me," admits New York-based sonic visionary C'batch, reflecting on his brand new single. "It's an unusual creative journey spanning fourteen years, a story drawn from real life, and a composition that crosses traditional boundaries."
Titled If There Was Ever a Fool (One of a Cast of Many), C'batch's latest release brings together expressive guitar work, dramatic orchestration, and haunting ambient layers. An epic and theatrical piece of music, the origins of the tune actually date back to 2012, when the artist recorded a spontaneous guitar improvisation.
Many years later, C'batch would pen the lyrics - a tale inspired by his observations of a real-life relationship involving a friend. A little dark, a tad ironic, and occasionally even humorous, it unpacks the messy nature of love and the often very questionable choices we make in its name.
Drawing upon elements of soul, rock, ambient music, and art pop, C'batch (real name Stephen H. Cumberbatch) has outdone himself once again! And how do I know that? Well, I've been fortunate enough to cover a lot of the musician's work lately, and even got to interview him not that long ago!
A true artist in every sense of the word, C'batch is someone I shall simply never tire of hearing from!
