C'batch Gives an Old Guitar Solo a Whole New Life on Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light) 4 - Cinematic
The work of Stephen H. Cumberbatch, AKA C'batch, has unquestionably been one of my favourite discoveries of 2026. A New York-based sonic visionary, C'batch first caught my attention with a silky smooth single called Trapped (I’m Doin’ Fine). Then came two full-length albums in quick succession - both sprawling, ambitious, and packed with fresh ideas. Needless to say, I was sold!
Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light) 4 - Cinematic is Stephen's latest offering, and this time, the artist takes listeners on a guitar-driven adventure of epic proportions. Built around a guitar solo originally recorded for his tune Round & Round, the track takes an existing piece of C’batch’s work and gives it a whole new lease on life.
Immersive, cinematic, and highly emotional, the bold instrumental needs no lyrics to make you feel something. Intentionally designed to create an open-ended musical experience, there's a spaciousness to the arrangement that allows the guitar to sit beautifully alongside some dreamy electronic and ambient textures.
Forming part of a four-track EP, each offering a different perspective of the song, Our Little Pooh Pea (The Last Light) 4 - Cinematic takes things in a direction I never saw coming. Then again, C'batch seems determined to keep me on my toes. And I'm absolutely fine with that!
