Coming Undone Immerses You in mkDUBBY’s Rich and Rhythmic World

Sending us into the weekend is one of the most unique, inventive, and meditative pieces of music I've come across in some time. Titled Coming Undone and courtesy of Morgan Watt, better known simply as mkDUBBY, it's a tune that builds upon a rich, immersive dub foundation. Raw, rhythmic, and deeply atmospheric, the track gently reveals itself layer by layer, rewarding listeners who fully surrender to its flow.

Woven around a meditative spoken word narrative that, in the artist's words, explores the tension between structural decay, social isolation in the modern world and personal liberation," Coming Undone is as thought-provoking as it is transportive. And, truthfully, that's what's really got me excited about this song. There's just a sincerity to the whole experience that feels very organic.

Recorded and produced at mkDUBBY's home studio on Bidjigal land in Sydney, Australia, Coming Undone signals a sonic departure from the musician's previous downtempo offerings.

A constant explorer who is always testing the boundaries of space and texture, Morgan draws influence from heavyweights like Aphex Twin, John Coltrane, and Bonobo. That said, his latest release very much occupies a space entirely of its own. It's genius stuff, really, and I can't wait to hear what Morgan offers up next!
