While attending secondary school in Lagos, Nigeria, Enosabor Omontuemhen and Oziren Zedomi began developing their sonic chemistry as producers. They named themselves svndaypack, and while life has since taken them to opposite sides of the Atlantic, the musical connection they forged has only strengthened.
EMPIRES is the duo's latest single, released at the beginning of last month. A silky-smooth and seriously easygoing piece of music, it's a tune that embraces restraint, warmth, and emotion.
Sitting somewhere between R&B and contemporary African pop, the track features vocalist Damitothewrld, whose vulnerable, intoxicating vocals lend a fragile and soulful charm to proceedings.
Capturing what the pair describe as "the slow unravelling of a volatile relationship on its final legs," EMPIRES explores the idea that it’s often not love that fails, but an unwillingness to endure the hard moments.
