Beyond Signal Wrestles With Post-Truth Anxiety on Brooding Single The Answers

A little over a month ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing a debut album called Gaia Algorithmica. Courtesy of a Sheffield-based artist who performs under the moniker Beyond Signal, the inventive and wide-ranging record really stuck with me, and songs from it quickly found their way to my On Repeat playlist.

I then explored what else the musician had to offer, including a dark and highly immersive tune called The Answers. Released in October last year, it's a track I am honoured to introduce you to today.

Described by its creator as being about "the post-truth nature of our current existence, and looking for answers in the chaos,"The Answers is Beyond Signal's first entirely self-produced song. Melancholic, intense, and with a new-wave/post-punk undercurrent coursing through its veins, it's a tune that thrives on a sense of unease.

It's truly gripping stuff, and once again, it's the artist who best explains his style. "It's known as TIM, or transcendental indie music."

Now, I may be getting ahead of myself, but I get the sense that we're witnessing the first chapter of a much larger sonic journey for Beyond Signal. And, having had the chance to "get in at ground level," I can already tell this is a project I’ll be following very closely moving forward!
