Ezra Vancil Picks Up the Pieces on Babylove - Raw, Bluesy, and Beautifully Broken

Recorded in a small cabin in the East Texas woods, there's an honest authenticity to Ezra Vancil's bluesy and soulful new single, Babylove. Heavily influenced by the legendary American singer/songwriter, Chris Whitley, Ezra's latest release allows for emotion to take priority over perfection. It carries a raw and unfiltered energy that feels lived-in and true - the kind of music that only comes from an artist who's seen both the beauty and the wreckage, so to speak.

"Babylove came out of one of the hardest chapters of my life," admits Ezra. "My wife and I had divorced after ten years, and I spent that year alone, trying to make sense of everything that had unraveled."

A track about love going wrong, and heartbreak turning into anger, loss, and self-destruction, it's the unvarnished storytelling of Babylove that has completely won me over. Forget a musician who wears his heart on his sleeve, Ezra Vancil lets you basically see right through him.

The tune will form part of Ezra's upcoming double album, Morning & Midnight, a record the artist plans on releasing one song at a time every thirty or so days. And sure, it's an album I'm seriously keen to hear - but truth be told, he’s already built a catalogue I can see myself getting lost in.
