My first encounter with For You Brother was back in 2024. As the brainchild of South Carolina-based multi-instrumentalist Jon Dash, it was his Rage Against The Machine-esque single Nice Money that first grabbed hold of me. 

Since then, I've been keeping a close eye (and ear) on his new releases, which isn't the easiest task given his constant output. Needless to say, all of this leads me to Message, Jon's latest track, and a tune featuring his longtime collaborator Azoghn. Let's explore!

A bluesy, potent, and whisky-soaked offering, Message is a powerful anthem with a take-no-prisoners attitude. With lyrics that implore women to value themselves, set boundaries, and refuse to settle for anything less than they deserve, it's a song that lands with a serious punch - and drives its message home with sizzling raw energy.

Azoghn's mesmerising blend of soulful depth and towering vocal authority is the perfect fit for the track, and she brings just the right amount of fire, intensity, and weight to proceedings.

Hoping to encourage women to be strong and set limits, the pair mention that "so many women struggle with this kind of treatment." Their message? "You deserve better. Be good to yourself!"
