GISKE Return with The Sound of Birdsong - Timeless, Tender, and Transcendent
Consisting of three former members of the acclaimed Norwegian pop band The Margarets, GISKE made their sonic introduction ten years ago. Named after the small island two of its founding members grew up on, the act is currently gearing up for the release of their second album early next year.
They've already delivered one tune that will form part of it in the form of Light Upon The Water, but today, I get the pleasure of introducing you to the second single, a dreamy and hypnotic little number called The Sound of Birdsong.
Described by band member Alex Rinde as feeling "more modern than much of what we've done before," The Sound of Birdsong was the first track penned for the new record. A deliciously meditative and calming piece of music, it’s the kind of tune that slows time down. Moving with an almost spiritual grace, its soft and gentle textures wash over you, drawing you in, until you're fully immersed.
"It leans more toward the present than the 60s," continues Alex. "But it still carries the dreamy atmosphere that's always followed us." Oh…indeed it does!
I've fallen ridiculously hard for The Sound of Birdsong. GISKE are undoubtedly the real deal. And, while I await their new album, I'll happily be spending some quality time with their past work.
