Giulio Risi Ends His Hiatus with the Wistful and Moving Lorna’s Room (The Loss of Love) - Sketch 2

Serving as the second single from Giulio Risi's upcoming concept album, Lorna's Room (The Loss of Love) - Sketch 2 is unquestionably one of the most moving piano pieces I've ever heard. A fleeting yet deeply impactful neoclassical composition, the award-winning Italian composer's latest offering is a haunting elegy.

It starts tender and modest, slowly unfolding "as love so often does," says Giulio. Weightless…floaty…and light as air.

But then it takes a sonic turn. A darker undercurrent emerges and creeps in. Sadly, once again, as love so often does.

An emotional tale of absence and memory, Lorna's Room is richly melodic and delicately layered. It's a living piece of art, and what it doesn’t say in words is just as powerful as what it does in tone, touch, and grace.

Known for being a member of the English progressive rock outfit Jadis, a group produced by the legendary Marillion, Giulio Risi's ability to adapt his musical voice to suit the occasion is akin to a sonic chameleon.

Seven Sketches of Loss is Risi's upcoming record. It marks fifteen years of silence from the composer. And it's an album I simply cannot wait to hear.
