Hook-Heavy and World-Weary - Josh Orange Hit the Sweet Spot with Believers And Dreamers (What Have We Become)
With their first release of 2025, Sydney-based four-piece Josh Orange deliver a powerful and hook-laden piece of indie rock brilliance in the form of Believers And Dreamers (What Have We Become). Laced with nostalgia and expertly pieced together, the band's new single is something of a protest anthem, wrapped up in a rich and seriously infectious melody that makes you want to dance through the disillusionment.
"In a way, the song is about saying I have had enough of the greed, the corruption, and the state of world politics," says Gordon Burke. "And the behaviour of the super wealthy…treating the little guy like a piece of shit".
Featuring a unique collaboration with Kaela Harp from the Sydney Orchestra, who lives up to her name in ways that feel borderline prophetic, Believers And Dreamers is a testament to Josh Orange's continuous sonic evolution.
Mixed and co-produced by the legendary engineer Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam, David Bowie, U2), the outfit's latest offering is hopefully just the start of many new releases. And, if you're lucky enough to live in Sydney, mark August 28th down in your calendar, as the band will be performing at the storied Lazybones.
