Industrial Textures and Orchestral Ambition Define Shortout Kid’s Toy Shop

If the name Shortout Kid feels familiar, it's because this isn't his first appearance on Savoy Truffle Tunes. In fact, it was only a few months ago that I was spotlighting the Dutch artist's bold and audacious single Pet Song. The gritty and emotive tune really left its mark on me, and I've been patiently waiting to hear from the musician again. Fortunately, he's wasted no time returning with new music. Allow me to introduce you to Toy Shop.

Described by its creator as "an orchestral amplification of an industrial ballad," Toy Shop is another fearless exploration of sound and texture. Armed as always with his trusty razor belt - an instrument he spent fifteen years building, Shortout Kid sets about concocting a dense, mystical, and seriously intense piece of music.

Now, while I sadly can't claim credit for likening Shortout Kid's sound to Kurt Cobain with a sampler addiction, one listen to Toy Shop is enough to understand exactly why it's the perfect assessment. Raw, dark, brooding, beautiful.

As daring and captivating as its predecessor, Shortout Kid's latest offering is yet another genius, unconventional burst of creativity. I'm completely sold on his artistic vision, and I have a feeling we're still witnessing the very beginning of something special!
