Originally released in 1996 and handed out at shows, Lead Me Not Into Penn Station is a record that would eventually grow into an underground cult classic and establish its creator, Block, as a pioneering force in the industry.

A ten-track offering that has been described as "folk-punk" yet also "a witty, knowing collection of pop tracks," Lead Me Not Into Penn Station is an album one needs to sit with and fully absorb. There's a complex and genius simplicity at work here, and it's no wonder the hugely impactful record has finally been given the remastering and reissuing it so richly deserves!

Rhinoceros begins proceedings, and Block's unique sonic palette is immediately evident. "I thought it would be an interesting idea to put a hip-hop beat to a folk song," admits the artist.

Future's Coming On Too Fast then steps up to the plate with toe-tapping infectiousness, before the almost gritty and dirty sounds of Hard come into play.

Other personal favourites included the dark and grungy vibes of Reuben Says, the delicate beauty that is To Alice From Thunderland, and the intense, hard-hitting goodness of Street Gig. That said, it's an album best enjoyed from start to finish - just as the classics tend to be!
