LoDeck Keeps the Spirit of '90s Hip-Hop Alive on Effortlessly Cool Track Viscera Cera

I've been on something of a hip-hop kick lately. It's been the likes of Black Silver and IamSnap mainly dominating my speakers, but now LoDeck has joined the party - a veteran MC who calls Las Vegas home. Since releasing his debut album in 2007, the rapper has earned plenty of love and praise for his work - specifically his 2008 record, Postcards From The Third Rock.

LoDeck's most recent offering is a sixteen-track reminder of why he's so highly revered, titled Dinner at Dorsia. Now…while I cannot recommend this album highly enough, for today's purposes we'll just be diving into track eight, a sweeping, jazz-inspired cut called Viscera Cera.

A collaboration between LoDeck, Yesh, and producer Sol626 of The Goden GODZ, Viscera Cera glides along with an effortless cool. Bringing that '90s golden-era sound firmly into the present, the track pairs an unhurried beat with slick flows and razor-sharp lyricism courtesy of two ridiculously talented rappers.

Viscera Cera refers to the viscera of life: those truly memorable moments that stay with us forever. It's a fitting idea for a track that pays homage to hip-hop's past - and it's also proof of its enduring legacy.
