Koentakhinte Has Done It Again with Beautifully Intimate New Tune When You're Not Here

There are so many songs and albums that I wish I could go back to and experience for the first time all over again. Imagine hearing Don McLean's Vincent or Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah as though you'd never heard them before. 

That's precisely how I feel about an utterly beautiful tune called Quiet Colors, courtesy of Dutch singer/songwriter Koen Ruiter. Performing under the moniker Koentakhinte, the artist released his debut single earlier this year - and thankfully, the sonic journey didn't end there.

When You're Not Here is Koen's spacious, ethereal new single, and it questions how the world carries on unchanged when someone's absence changes everything. A delicate, gentle, and heartfelt piece of music, Koen's latest offering employs an acoustic guitar and an intimate arrangement to let the song's emotional core shine through.

Blending lyric-led indie pop with classic singer/songwriter sensibilities, When You're Not Here showcases just what Koentakhinte does best: saying a lot without ever overdoing it or losing sight of the bigger picture.

"I don't write songs to tell people what to think," explains the musician. "I write songs that invite them to discover what they think." It's profound stuff, and it's definitely what keeps me coming back for more!
