Melodic Punk Lives Again on James Zero’s Relentlessly Catchy YOU’RE A GHOST
Hailing from Pennsylvania, James Zero is something of a musical whizz. A singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, he recently delivered a driving piece of punk rock brilliance called YOU'RE A GHOST, and it's a tune I cannot get out of my head!
Starting gently and easing the listener in, YOU'RE A GHOST takes its time building up to its eventual crescendo. When it gets there, though, it submerges you in a storm of powerful riffs and intense drum work.
Things are then toned down a notch once again, and James makes his vocoder-infused vocal performance. Classic, nostalgic, and laced with that bittersweet angst that defined a generation, it's a performance that lands like a sucker punch from the past. A finely tuned blast of melodic punk.
"This is one of my favourite songs from the album," says the artist, an album titled early2thou, but with no official release date provided just yet. "I wanted to make a song that sounded like the songs I listened to growing up". Mission accomplished, in my humble opinion, and I can't wait to hear early2thou in its entirety.
