Mercy Kelly Enter a Bold New Era With Emotionally-Charged EP Summer of Silence

Where do I begin with Mercy Kelly? As one of my favourite new acts of last year, I think it's only fair to point out that the Manchester-based outfit had a rather rocky start to 2026. Ironically, it was their growing success that threw a spanner in the works. With bigger opportunities came bigger commitments - and sadly - not everyone could answer the call.

Determined to press on, the band's original members regrouped, strategised, and got down to work on an EP. Titled Summer of Silence and released last Friday, the deeply personal offering transforms a turbulent chapter in Mercy Kelly's history into one of this year's most meaningful listens.

Breathe for Her and Speak Too Soon both feature on the new EP, two tunes that have become staples in the act's live set (and my playlists!) Alongside those familiar favourites, however, sit two brand new tracks in the form of Love Song and Shard of Rain.

Love Song is the first tune Mercy Kelly penned as a three-piece. Beautifully organic and heartfelt, you immediately get the sense that this lineup just clicks - and it's simply a joy to hear from them again!

Shard of Rain is a track the band had in their locker, but never got around to recording, and once you jam it, you'll be incredibly grateful they finally gave it the release it deserves. Big, bold, outstanding - just like the outfit themselves!
