Miss Ashley Jean Expertly Balances Fragility and Grit on Latest EP Another Fragment
I recently had the opportunity to interview Los Angeles-based bedroom and dream-pop rock artist Miss Ashley Jean. What I uncovered in our chat was a deeply thoughtful, passionate, and dedicated musician with a refreshingly honest perspective on the realities of navigating today's music industry. And hey - it didn't harm that her music was top-notch either!
Another Fragment is Miss Ashley Jean's brand new EP - an inventive and eclectic six-track offering that, in its creator's words, reflects on how "a person can be fragmented, made up of pieces like a monotone kaleidoscope, and still be whole."
Through gets the ball rolling in delicate and immersive fashion. A rich and dreamy wonder, it's the perfect opener to suck listeners in - before fading out and making way for Confetti, the very song that first made me fall in love with the artist. A Straylight Run-inspired tune, the angsty and emo-infused track is just superb!
Empath shifts the mood again, restoring the EP's gentle warmth and comforting textures, before its successor, Small Talk, steps up and delivers another gritty, heartfelt performance that echoes the spirit of Confetti.
Five Minutes and Viento round off Another Fragment; two creations that I'd like you to explore on your own. All I'll say is this: Miss Ashley Jean is the real deal, and this EP is seriously compelling!
