NETSKII Turns Betrayal Into Beauty on Symphonic Debut Single Задыхаюсь (Can’t Breathe)

While we don't feature a ton of non-English music here at Savoy Truffle Tunes, now and then a song comes along that makes the language barrier completely irrelevant. Today, that song is Задыхаюсь, or Can't Breathe in English. 

Courtesy of Moscow-based singer/songwriter Aleх Kamenetsky, better known simply as NETSKII, the lush and cinematic piece was born against the backdrop of a loved one's infidelity. "He stayed by my side for appearances," says Alex, going deeper into the track's meaning. "And that suffocation became the central metaphor."

Teaming up with a ridiculously talented group of other artists, including the poet Darya Shtykova, Alex sets about concocting an orchestral, almost symphonic atmosphere that pulls you straight in. It's dramatic and immersive stuff, and once you add his fragile yet deeply expressive vocals to the equation, what you end up with is a heartbreaking anthem steeped in betrayal and raw honesty.

Recorded at the famous Dark Side Records in Moscow and mastered by Sergey “Kamaz” Koma, NETSKII's debut offering is three minutes of pure emotion and truth. It's truly beautiful - and I can't wait to hear from him again!
