OpCritical Push Their Fearless Protest Sound Forward on Doing Fine
The recently formed American outfit OpCritical have undoubtedly been one of my favourite discoveries of the year so far. From the brilliance of Not Alone, a genius reimagining of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's protest anthem Ohio, to the potent wake-up call that is USA, there's an unflinching fearlessness to the band's work that I've found simply impossible to ignore.
Doing Fine is one of five singles OpCritical have unleashed this year, and they recently presented a thought-provoking music video to accompany the tune. With 1.6 million views in 30-odd days, the track has clearly struck a nerve.
Fiery, grungy, and deliciously punky, Doing Fine is a sonic celebration of breaking free from conformity. All bells and whistles are left firmly at the door, as OpCritical deliver a raw and unfiltered blast of energy that really gets the blood pumping.
"The only way people can be truly happy is if they can express themselves for who they are," says the outfit. "Individuality is an ideal American trait that has been eroded, and we want people to discover and embrace their true selves."
Continuing to tackle all the dangers currently facing America, OpCritical are a voice for the voiceless and a band on a mission. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, DON'T SLEEP ON THIS ACT!
