Rallying Cry: Bailey Grey Channels Punk-Folk Energy on New Single More Of Us

Intent on creating a classic folk-style protest song with a little punk energy, New Jersey-based singer/songwriter Bailey Grey recently delivered a stirring call to arms titled More Of Us. Accompanied by her producer and collaborator Sam Cook-Stuntz, as well as Kevin Li on the fiddle, Bailey concocts a sonically upbeat and hugely infectious piece of music. Underneath it all, however, there's a vital, timely message of unity and communal defiance.

"This is a song about what it's like living in America right now, and how it has always been," says the artist. "It's about collectively waking up to the corruption and brainwashing coming from the powers that be."

Turning to the likes of Ani DiFranco, Joni Mitchell, and Brandi Carlile for inspiration, Bailey taps into the bold, truth-telling clarity those musicians helped shape. Unafraid to challenge the status quo - in fact, purposely looking to confront it, Bailey uses More Of Us to shine a light on the strength that can come from standing side by side.

In less than two and a half minutes, Bailey Grey has managed to produce a loud, clear, and potent political statement. It's one of the best I've heard in some time, and it feels custom-made for crowded streets, placards, and voices rising together! Superb!
