Red Guru Digs Deep on Soul-Soaked New Record Deep and Conscious
Soulful, bluesy, and infused with a crunchy rock centre, Deep and Conscious is the wonderfully eclectic new album from Milton Fowlin, a Leeds-based artist and producer who performs under the moniker Red Guru. Through ten genre-blending and hugely profound tunes, Milton takes listeners on a sonic rollercoaster through years of saved melodies and fresh inspiration. Let's dive in, shall we?
The gospel-soaked sounds of Purpose get the ball rolling, wasting no time immersing the listener in Red Guru's rich and thought-provoking sonic identity. Its time then steps up to the plate with a bluesy swagger that gets the toes tapping, before the slightly unexpected yet deeply intoxicating Sweet Hearts makes its appearance.
Would i lie returns to the rootsy sound of the record's two opening tracks, before making way for Smooth, another song (like Sweet Hearts) that showcases the full spectrum of Red Guru's enormous musical versatility.
Other personal favourites include Task Complete, Clues, and the album's parting statement, Oh no im free. That said, Deep and Conscious is a record that rewards listeners who truly take the time to live with it.
An absolutely superb offering from a highly gifted musician, Deep and Conscious has been getting some serious playtime on my speakers lately, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
