RIMENY’s World as Myth Is a Chewy Pop Exploration of Time, Growth, and Communication
World as Myth is the sugary-sweet debut EP courtesy of RIMENY, the alternative pop alter-ego of a Maine-based artist named Zak Engel. A six-track offering that explores time, growth, and communication, it's an EP that wraps its existential questions up in irresistibly vibrant and emotive pop. Unafraid to shy away from the "heavy" topics - but determined to package them into shimmering tunes, Zak's latest release is very much worth diving into!
Treat Me Like a Stranger gets the ball rolling and instantly plunges the listener into RIMENY's chewy pop playground. Lush, infectious, and topped with a smooth saxophone played by John Waugh, it's a strong start to proceedings.
I Can't Talk to My Friends is next up, and it's a song that the musician describes as a "reflection of getting over that lack of confidence and my growth into deeply appreciating electronic/dance music." Upbeat and uniquely layered, it's essentially a joyous reflection on self-growth.
Not Yet is a bouncy little number that feels like it's pulling you from side to side, before giving way to the utterly beautiful Sweet Tea, a tune that showcases another side of Zak's sound.
Matt and Second Time Through complete World as Myth, and they're two tracks I shall leave you to experience without spoilers. All I'll say is this…it's an EP that hits deeper with every listen.
