Rock’s Many Faces Shine on Nick Cody & The Heartache’s Album This is Love & Heartache
Leeds-based artist Nick Cody is certainly no newcomer to the scene. His latest album, This is Love & Heartache, marks his ninth full-length record, and it sees the musician teaming up with a bunch of other talented artists to perform under the moniker Nick Cody & The Heartache.
An eleven-track collection covering, essentially, the entire spectrum of rock 'n' roll, This is Love & Heartache is a sonic journey through the years. From the warm and timeless sounds of the album opener, Can't Stop, to the gritty and driving genius of tunes like This is Love and Keep Lifting, the record feels like a passionate homage to rock’s many forms.
"This album, our first all-electric ensemble, uniquely reflects my love for music that sparks the brain and makes you want to stamp your feet," says Nick.
And hey, if you're looking for a second opinion, Jim Glennie, founding member of Manchester legends James, calls the record "wonderfully innovative and explorative…packed full of strong melodies and ideas".
Other personal favourites from the album include the infectious That Gal, the slow-moving gem Take Heart, and the short firecracker that is All About Her Lies. You know my recommendation, though: digest the entire record from start to finish. It's so worth it!
