Siren Section Push Post-Punk and Electronics on Hazy New Album Separation Team

About a year ago, a gripping and expansive single made its way across my proverbial desk. Titled Glass Cannon, and courtesy of a Los Angeles–based electronic post-punk duo called Siren Section, the dark and hazy tune has very much stayed with me. 

Proclaiming then that I couldn't wait to hear from James Cumberland and John Dowling again, it's safe to say that the wait has been worth it. Introducing Separation Team, the pair's latest offering, and first full-length release in more than eight years.


A sprawling nineteen-track epic, Siren Section's new record is a dense, immersive concept album designed specifically to be experienced in its entirety. Rewarding listeners who truly commit to the full experience, Separation Team is layered with distortion, glitch-driven electronics, and highly hypnotic rhythmic structures. It's bold and intense and unflinching in the best possible way, and showcases an outfit operating with absolute confidence in their sonic language.
