Strutter Blur Sonic Boundaries With Eerie and Immersive New Single Modern Life

Officially released just a few hours ago, Modern Life is the cracking new single from Dublin-based four-piece Strutter, an outfit known for their genre-blending and visceral sound. Serving as the band's second studio release and follow-up to 2023's Summer, Modern Life is stitched together unconventionally, creating an unpredictable yet highly intoxicating sonic journey.

Ambiently influenced by the 1982 supernatural horror movie Poltergeist, as well as the hit Netflix show Stranger Things, Modern Life leans into an eerie and retro-infused soundscape. Otherworldly and evocative, it's a tune that takes its time to breathe and expand - never rushed, just drifting forward with a slow-burning intensity that pulls you under.

An anthem for the disenfranchised and those struggling with the ever-increasing pressures of modern life, Strutter's latest offering examines the different coping mechanisms at our disposal. "Technological advances have been transformative, but this may also bring out nostalgia for simpler times and a slower-paced world," says the act. "What does the individual need to cope with the modern world?"

A fitting message wrapped in a brooding and rich arrangement, Modern Life has instantly wormed its way into my daily rotation. With each listen, you pick up more subtle intricacies, and by the time the track ends, all you really want is to hear it again! Sublime stuff!
