Sending us gently into the weekend is an album I've been dying to share with you - and now, just hours after its official re-release, I finally get to do exactly that. Its name: Terra Cognita. Its creator: Emmy-winning composer, producer, and musician Michael J McEvoy. An eight-track meditation on the beauty and power of nature, this absorbing record blends ambient jazz and world music to spellbinding effect. Atmospheric, textured, spacious, sublime!

Accompanying Michael on Terra Cognita is the legendary Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira, whose distinctive rhythmic pulse brings an unmistakable warmth to proceedings. And that's not all - a host of other ridiculously gifted musicians also lend their skills to the album - each contributing something truly special to its rich and expansive sound.

Originally released on CD in 2009 and then licensed to a label in 2012, Terra Cognita's re-release feels particularly timely.
