The Lonesome Tender Hollow Of The Night Is a Defining Album For Christo Sedgewick and The Fabulous Regrets

The Lonesome Tender Hollow Of The Night has been described as Christo Sedgewick and The Fabulous Regrets' most "immersive and emotionally resonant release to date." A bold adventure through blues, folk, and Americana, it's the outfit's third album in as many years, and though it's my introduction to their sound, I'm getting the sense that this isn't just "another record." It feels like a defining moment in Christo Sedgewick's sonic evolution.

The Dead King Hunts And Eats The Gods gets the ball rolling in swampy, bluesy fashion. A whisky-soaked toe-tapper, it leads with intent, before handing things over to Highway 12, a tune that leans into a much more introspective and tender space.

Bowen maintains the same calming and reflective atmosphere as its predecessor, with Christo delivering a sterling vocal performance. From there, Yellow Bird arrives to shake things loose again, re-introducing that rhythm-driven energy that pulls you straight back in.

Across ten tracks, Christo Sedgewick and The Fabulous Regrets explore everything from love and heartbreak to ambition and resignation. It's not just the music that's wonderfully rich and full-bodied; it's the storytelling too.

Staking a claim for one of my albums of the year, The Lonesome Tender Hollow Of The Night is a record I can't help returning to again and again. It's just that good!
