Thistroubledsoul Captures the Raw and Cinematic Power of Highroad No. 28
It was only last month that I was waxing lyrical about Australian rockers Highroad No. 28. They'd just returned to the scene after a long hiatus with a tune called Ache, and the dynamic and moody rock track was one I simply couldn't shake!
Now, the outfit returns with Thistroubledsoul, the brooding and cinematic follow-up to Ache. Let's dive in, shall we?
Exploring themes of inner conflict, vulnerability, and unresolved emotion, Iām getting strong solo-era Ozzy vibes from Thistroubledsoul, especially reminiscent of the No More Tears and Ozzmosis era. From the emotionally raw vocals of Andrew JC to the shadowy, textured instrumentals, it's the perfect balance of heaviness and nuance.
Serving as the second single from the band's forthcoming album The Will to Endure, Thistroubledsoul is a sophisticated continuation of Highroad No. 28's darker evolution, both sonically and thematically.
"It's about carrying emotional weight - the quiet battles inside, the scars you don't see, and the strange strength that comes from enduring them," says Andrew.
Another absolute gem of an offering, Thistroubledsoul is one more tantalising appetiser for what lies ahead on The Will to Endure. And, with the record still scheduled for release later this month, the wait to hear it is almost over!
