Where You Begin Finds The Sunday Shamans Channelling Classic Psychedelia with a Modern Edge
With their first release of 2026, London-based psychedelic rockers The Sunday Shamans make it clear that they’re a name worth keeping a serious eye (and ear) on moving forward!
Offering a glimpse into what will eventually be their debut album, the outfit recently unleashed Where You Begin, a hazy four-minute adventure. Through George Harrison-inspired chords and hints of the legendary Cream scattered throughout, The Sunday Shamans craft a hypnotic soundscape that, while firmly rooted in classic psychedelia, pushes neatly into more modern territory.
"This song and the subsequent album it comes from have all been inspired by the concept of past lives and how that impacts our relationships," says the band, made up of Lucid L, Tambourine Tom, and Donnacha the Wizard, as they set the tone for their upcoming record.
The Bookhouse Studios is where The Sunday Shamans decided to record Where You Begin, a space best known for its link to Wet Leg and their breakout single Chaise Lounge. Taking an intentionally old-school approach to their recording process, the act kept overdubs to a minimum and avoided click tracks altogether. That strategy has paid off in spades, and to be completely honest with you, that forthcoming album can't come soon enough! Genius stuff!
