ZOOLOOK Crafts Hypnotic Funk and Purpose on Power of the People - Remix

ZOOLOOK is a San Francisco-based multidisciplinary artist and musician. They're also an award-winning comic book creator, writer, photographer, and filmmaker - so it's safe to say art, in all its forms, is their natural language.

As a musician, ZOOLOOK finds vocal inspiration in legends like Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, and Nina Simone. Sound-wise, they seek to concoct music that "speaks to both the heart and the struggle."

In April last year, the artist released a soulful and highly thought-provoking single called Power of the People. It's an absolute gem of a tune in its own right, but today, it's the more recent remix I'd like to introduce you to.

An anthem for unity built on rich, funk-steeped grooves, ZOOLOOK's reinterpretation takes listeners back to the socially conscious sounds of the '70s. It's hypnotic and almost psychedelic, and the artist's work on the bass guitar shows off their mastery of the instrument while keeping the song beautifully grounded.

"This song challenges fear-based narratives around immigration and power," says ZOOLOOK. "It reminds us that the people still hold the greatest strength of all: unity."

A truly genius piece of music, ZOOLOOK's remix of Power of the People is the kind of track that pulls you in from all directions. It's infectious, purposeful, and powerful - a rare combination that the music world needs more of!
