Anjalts Gears Up for New Album With Dark and Dreamy Single Through the Fray

My previous encounter with New York-based musician and producer Anjalts came at the end of last year, when I discovered her lush and dreamy piece of retro-pop brilliance, Summer Is Gone. Proudly summing it up as "essentially floating inside a tune that somehow feels very familiar," the song now sits with over 23,000 Spotify plays - so clearly, it wasn't just me who heard something special.

Prolific as always, Anjalts has released a bunch of material since Summer Is Gone, and today, the spotlight falls on one of her most recent: please welcome Through the Fray.

A shape-shifting slice of synthy electro-pop perfection, Anjalts' new single fuses sleek electronic production with a brooding alt-pop aesthetic. Anchored by a gliding bassline that steers the track's momentum, Through the Fray wastes little time in drawing the listener deep into its rich and textured atmosphere.

Leaning into the synth-pop era of David Bowie and the eclectic synergy of someone like Prince, Anjalts has managed to concoct a wonderfully inventive, cinematic, and utterly dreamy song. It moves at its own pace - never rushed, never unsettled.

Through the Fray, perhaps most excitingly, also signals the (hopefully imminent) arrival of the artist's fourth album. An album that, yes, you guessed it, I cannot wait to hear!
