At This Point, We Trust Them Blind - Rosetta West Bring the Noise on God of the Dead Album
As our most featured outfit to date, Rosetta West feel more like part of the furniture around here than just another band we admire. Hailing from Chicago, the blues-rock act have been on a serious run of form this year, with ambitious offerings like Snake 25, Circle of Doubt, and the powerful seven-track album Gravity Sessions.
Intent on keeping that momentum going, Rosetta West recently delivered their third record of 2025. An expansive, sprawling, and genre-spanning sonic expedition, allow me to introduce you to God Of The Dead.
A fifteen-song body of work, the outfit's latest album is a collection of, in the band's words, "strange blues-rock, punk and funk, emotional acoustic songs, piano ballads, and searing feedback instrumentals."
Boneyard Blues kicks things off with grit and twangy goodness, before the almost psychedelic sounds of Underground creep into your skin. I Don't Care showcases the more swampy and raw side of Rosetta West, while its successor, Chain Smoke, delivers a garage-born buzz that’s more rusted steel than polished chrome.
Look, there are fifteen tracks on God Of The Dead. I'm not going to try to unpack every moment. Part of the magic is in the mystery. So dive in and see where the grit and groove take you.
