Audacious and Haunting, Shortout Kid’s New Single Pet Song Commands Attention
Based in the Netherlands, Shortout Kid is truly a one-of-a-kind artist. Prefering to remain nameless, he spent almost fifteen years building what he calls the razor belt, an instrument with the fused looks and sounds of an electric guitar and a chainsaw. Needless to say, he plays by his own rules.
Last year, Shortout Kid delivered his debut single Tricked Out Brain Glitch (You My Beauty). It's a tune I implore you to listen to. Today, however, I'd like to share with you his most recent offering, Pet Song.
A ferocious outburst of dark, raw noise, Pet Song is an electrifying composition. Picture early Radiohead, Nirvana, and The Smashing Pumpkins running wild - all unleashed - and free to purely explore.
Built on the foundations of a soft, truly vulnerable piece of music, Pet Song is as haunting and eerie as it is unique. It's such an audacious track that, in many ways, shouldn't technically work - yet it does, and then some!
Serving as the first release from Shortout Kid's upcoming debut album, the gritty and emotive tune sits with you long after it's over. It just has an aura that captivates and unsettles in equal measure, and I'm seriously looking forward to hearing the full record!
