Class 2 Rapids Is a Sonic Snapshot of Everything Robbie Rapids Does Best

Don't you just love it when you stumble across new music from an artist you haven't thought about in a while? For me, it's one of life's little moments that still brings a childlike joy every time. With that in mind, it is my honour to introduce you to Class 2 Rapids, the new album from Atlanta-based singer/songwriter and guitarist Robbie Rapids.

A fourteen-track musical journey through a kaleidoscope of genres and emotions, Robbie's latest record is a collection of tunes written and recorded over the past two years. Featuring more than ten different musicians accompanying him, it makes sense that the album serves up a smorgasbord of sonic flavours. That said, there's still a strong sense of cohesiveness that binds everything together.

Songs like Hang Loose and Dance with Me deliver upbeat and infectious goodness, while the likes of Black Roses and Big Bam Boom showcase Robbie's rockier, more aggressive side.

Street Shuffle is a tune that deals with displacement, capturing the uneasy rhythm of a life lived between pavements and shelters, before giving way to Fishing the River, which tells the tale of Robbie's poor fishing skills down by the Pere Marquette River.

An absolute gem from beginning to end, Class 2 Rapids is Robbie Rapids in a nutshell, and I'm absolutely loving every minute of it!
